Top 10 Finalists for the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® DESIGN DISCOVERY AWARD 2010 - Australia’s most prestigious award for emerging designers - have been announced. Judged by a panel of industry experts, the award is presented annually to recognise outstanding work by emerging Australian designers.

This year saw incredible diversity in the range of materials used, with fabrications in everything from paper through to concrete. Designs were more innovative than in previous years, and entries were largely design ‘solutions’ - less about ‘sculpture’ and more about function and combined beauty with practicality.

BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® DESIGN DISCOVERY AWARD judge Terri Winter of top3 by design.
The winner will receive a $30,000 cash prize and a trip to Milan to attend the international design fair, the Salone del mobile in 2011. Four runners up will each receive $2,500 and the remaining five finalists will each receive $1,000.
