The Caulfield Classic Style Award
Classic Style is synonymous with racing attire, however in recent years it has often been lost to the quest for fast fashion. In 2006, Melbourne Racing Club re-instated the grace and glamour of classic style by introducing the Caulfield Classic Style Award.
Now in its fourth year the Caulfield Classic Style Award boasts a veritable who’s who of fashion as its alumni.
To earn the Award and the accompanying $25,000 prize, the outfit must be a signature race wear look that represents ‘classic style’. Winners from recent years often have a modern take on the interpretation of classic style, with current trends woven into elegant lines. Attention to detail is of the utmost importance to the judging panel.
This year’s entrants will be revealed at Underwood Stakes Day on Saturday, 18th September and paraded at The Age Caulfield Ladies Luncheon on Friday, 1st October. The finalists will take centre stage at the Fashion and Entertainment precinct on The Age Caulfield Guineas Day Saturday, 9th October at Caulfield.
The Award is one of the many great fashion events that will take centre stage at the 2010 Caulfield Spring Racing Carnival.

Chadstone Fashion Stakes
The Chadstone Fashion Stakes is a highlight of Australia’s fashion calendar, showcasing the best of classic style with individual flair. This year, the Chadstone Fashion Stakes will be expanded to include three categories, reflecting the popularity of the award.
Youthful Fashionista is for the chic young woman who has an innate sense of fashion and styling; Classic Lady is the newest category aimed at a sophisticated woman who presents herself with classic style and grace; and following 2009’s popular inclusion of a men’s category, Stylish Gents is designed for a man of any age for whom appearance and grooming are of utmost importance.
As a result of its enormous popularity, there will be more heats held. An extra heat will be added to Underwood Stakes Day, Saturday, 18th September, to provide more Youthful Fashionistas with the opportunity to showcase their classic racing style. Other heats in this category will be held on The Age Caulfield Guineas Day, Saturday, 9th October and further heats and the Grand Final occur on BMW Caulfield Cup Day on Saturday, 16th October. The heats and grand final of the Classic Lady and Stylish Gents categories will be held on The Age Caulfield Guineas Day, Saturday, 9th October.

The Face of Caulfield 2010
It’s that time of year again. The horses are training; the ladies are preening. For the fillies on track there is only one finish line in sight. But for their two legged counterparts, the chances to win are vast and varied. There is one prize however that outweighs all others: the opportunity to be the 2010 Face of Caulfield.
Though the competition is held every year, this year the MRC upped the ante, searching not just for a pretty face but for someone who can step into the shoes of presenter and co-host too. The 2010 Face must embody classic style, handle the media with elegance and grace and be a confident public speaker.
It is with great pleasure that the Melbourne Racing Club now announce the winner of the 2010 Search for the Face of Caulfield: Helen Coghill. The 22-year-old vibrant beauty can’t wait to be in the spotlight. ‘I’m looking forward to the beautiful dresses, the hair, the make-up; working with people who expect the best and being surrounded by go-getters,’ she says.
As the Face of Caulfield, Helen will work closely with the Caulfield Classic Style Ambassador, Brodie Harper to represent the Caulfield Spring Racing Carnival at each race day and at publicity events.
