A few nights ago, racing fashion identity Kate Waterhouse, Grant Pearce from LMFF and Gracie Otto looked to Australia’s top emerging fashion designers to predict the key looks for Spring Racing Carnival at the 3rd Annual Chambord® Shine Awards™. Unanimously the judges, which also included marie claire Fashion Editor Kate Harrowsmith and Kate Mansour of Chambord®, agreed Melbourne design duo Limedrop produced the winning look on the catwalk at the Strand.

Limedrop

Limedrop was crowned the 2010 Chambord® Shine Awards™ winner with their modern take on Spring Racing Fashion. With a carousel horse printed front and back, the contemporary creation captured the essence of Chambord® and the spirit of Spring Racing Carnival perfectly.

“I was genuinely knocked out by the detail and tailoring each designer put into their final creations for the Chambord Shine award,’’ said the event host and leading fashion commentator Melissa Hoyer. “The Melbourne label which took home the Chambord crown, Limedrop, did take the theme literally, putting an amazing screen print of a exquisite horse on a beautiful swinging, full, silk dress. But, it totally fitted the brief and said total ‘class’ not ‘kitsch’.

In addition to the double page spread in Marie Claire magazine, the prize in previous years, Limedrop will have the opportunity to showcase their creation for 2,000 consumers at the Strand Arcade’s “An Evening with Our Designers”, and they will also be able to show their own collection at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2011, thanks to Chambord®. Those looking to predict what fashionista Gracie Otto will be sporting on the field will have to look no further as Gracie will be wearing the winning design from Limedrop during Spring Racing Carnival.

Guests attending the private event were treated to classic favourites the French Martini, French Manhattan, Chambord® Lime & Soda and Chambord®’s latest cocktail The Cobbler upon arrival. The seductive lighting and elegant surroundings of The Strand Arcade mirrored the luxury of Chambord® and the entrance looked spectacular when emblazoned by the Chambord® crown.

Sweet Infinity served tempting canapés including confit tomato tartlet with fresh baby feta, tempura zucchini flower stuffed with goat’s cheese and wagyu beef tartare with beetroot relish. But the highlight was the conclusion of the evening with desserts of Chambord® and Champagne jelly with blackberries and Chambord® raspberry and white chocolate truffles.
