Independent design and art market The Finders Keepers have announced dates for their Melbourne debut, expanding to their third Australian state in less than three years. The collaborative market event started out in Sydney in 2007, expanded to Brisbane in 2009 and will launch in Melbourne on Saturday October 9th and Sunday October 10th at Shed four Docklands and plan to make their stay as a biannual design market event.

Co-founders Sarah Thornton and Brooke Johnston started the markets back in 2007 after being frustrated at the weekly markets in Sydney and the lack of opportunities for emerging designers, they wanted to create a design supportive event.

“We wanted to bridge the gap between local weekend markets and expensive trade fairs”

Says Brooke.

Events | Where: Melbourne, VIC

This event will be its largest yet, showcasing designs from up to 150 best emerging and innovative designers of fashion, jewellery, accessories, homewares, childrenʼs wear, stationary, art and object design all of which will be hand selected to be involved.

The Finders Keepers will offer Melbourne locals an opportunity to immerse themselves in live music, food, all things art and design and discover local and national designers that continue to inspire and delight the community, something that has been much welcomed in the Sydney and Brisbane communities for the past three years.

As with all Finders Keepers events there will be live music and a café and bar open all day. For designers who want to be involved in the event, apply online at www.thefinderskeepers.com. Applications close 27th of August 2010.
