Australian artist, maker and designer Christina Waterson has released a new range of furniture and homewares called the Bloom Series. The series celebrates natural geometries and growth patterns, with each piece combining male and female pairings. Waterson’s considered manipulation of scale, materiality and combination have generated beautiful, distinctly different yet interrelated functional domestic objects.
The series comprises seven pieces: Lift Stool, Tilt Magazine Rack, 1/2 Tilt Platter, Fruit Pixel Ornaments, Pixel Flatpak Lights, Clove Bowl and Pixel Screen. First editions of the Bloom Series use recycled acrylic and printed corflute, and certified plywoods, with Second editions, released mid 2010, in stainless steel and powdercoated mild steel.
The Bloom Series follows Waterson’s Komodo Series (including plexa#1), launched and recognized as a finalist in the 2008 Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award. This new range speaks of her craft. It is imbued with her desire to make meaningful places and objects to be cherished; inspiring us to greater things.
