bindarri is a not for profit site that aims to support and promote Australian creatives who are working for positive change and to inspire others who are yet to begin. They welcome people to get involved by submitting posts, links, stories, ideas, volunteering etc. With an open interpretation on the meaning of design, they are open to all submissions from creatives.
A short about the name:
“In our search for a name we wanted a word that had no meaning or experiences attached to it and so began by looking for a word outside the english language. We researched within the languages of our indigenous nations as a gesture to show pride in our australian cultures and to acknowledge the indigenous peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of Australia.”
“bindarri is the Nyungar word for lightning, the Nyungar (people) are from the South West of Australia. This region has many indigenous place names so Nyungar words are embeded in the english spoken by Western Australians.”
