Melbourne’s Leader Newspaper describe him as an ‘aerosol warrior’ and street art lovers have adopted him as one of the country’s finest. This August, Drewfunk will bring his latest graffiti style works to Oh Really Gallery in Newtown in an exhibition titled ‘Elevation not Levitation’. The exhibition launches Thursday 27 August at 6pm.
Elevation not Levitation depicts a playful mix of cultures, full of mythical creatures, bonsai and contemporary symbology. The works convey fleeting moments of love, sadness and reflection.
Drewfunk hails from Melbourne and was born in Malaysia. He draws his inspirations from the city streets whilst staying true to his oriental heritage. Now a full time artist, Drewfunk quit his job as a designer to pursue his passion. He graduated with a Bachelor in Multimedia & Design from RMIT University.
Elevation not Levitation runs from Thursday 27 August until Thursday 3 September 2009. Open 11am – 6pm Thursday to Sundays.
